Here's a road map of sorts to this blog.
I spent four weeks in southern Laos vounteering at a small eco-lodge run by an Italian-Lao family. Then I went traveling with N for the next three weeks- about 3 days in BKK, 6 in Laos again, and 8 in Burma.
Some highlights:
1. Volunteering in Laos, at Kingfisher Ecolodge.
2. An amazing two-day jungle trek to a remote village in the Xe Pian National Protected Area, in Laos.
3. Visit to Bagan, an ancient Burmese capital full of pagodas and temples built between the 10th and 13th c.
4. Markets, including one in Yangon.
5. Hanging out on the beach in Burma. We were told it was Thailand, circa 1985. Hardly any other tourists, very little to do save a boat ride or two.
