This is a good overview of what's happening to the airport in BKK.

Sure hope it gets resolved in two weeks when N's scheduled to come out. People have been stranded- one group here had to cut their trip short to fly from Pakse, the large town from here to Vientiane, to Hanoi and back to Europe. Others have been re-routed to KL.
I read it's the King's bday in a week, and it would embarrass him were these issue still unresolved. Hopefully that's the case.

I always find it interesting how when the name of a party or country has some variant on the word "democracy," it invariably isn't. The People's Alliance for Democracy is not only royalist, but wants to get rid of one person-one vote. I should actually hunt for name of ex and current "democratic" countries.
German Democratic Republic (East Germany)
Democratic Republic of the Congo
A corollary would be those countries that are the "People's"...
Socialist People's Libyan Arab Great Jamahiriya
People's Republic of China
or the daily doubles:
Democratic People's Republic of Korea (North Korea)
People's Democratic Republic of Algeria
And, your new friend: Lao People's Democratic Republic ;-)
and usually the more words, the "better"
